To : All Parents
From: Executive Director

We appreciate your continuous support and trust in Arab Unity School. We would like to inform you that the first inspection by Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) was done in the month of October 2008 and the first report has been appearing in the newspapers repeatedly.

A second inspection was done in March 2009 to check whether the school has taken steps to implement the recommendations. The Lead Inspector, while briefing us after the inspection, mentioned that ‘Arab Unity School has shown tremendous growth and the school has made acceptable progress’. We are awaiting the second report so that we can share it with you.

The school has tried to implement most of their recommendations in this year itself. Learning has become more child-centred and activity based. The assessment procedure is a continuous one carried out in an informal setting. In the next academic year, our emphasis will be to make the learning environment ecologically friendly and provide better facilities for sports. Plans are afoot to introduce diverse extracurricular activities for students to develop and nurture their talents. Our vision is clear and with your continuous support and cooperation Arab Unity School will rise higher.

This refers to our circular No. AUS/15/08 dated 5th November 2008 for school bus routes which are facing delays in reaching school on time in the morning because of diversions and congestions.

We thank parents for their overwhelming support and co-operation in suggesting options.  After thorough charting out, we feel that, if we reorganize the pick-up and drop off points, we can overcome the problem of delays, subject to further co-operation from the parents on affected areas.

We have given a map of your area to the driver / conductor to explain it to your ward or to you, suggesting the new collective pick up and dropping points.  Please follow it and help the school to avoid any inconvenience to you.

The above planning is not to reduce the buses or to pull them out from the congested routes.  Please be assured that any concern of parents is our concern too.  We request parents to bear with us.

IMPORTANT

  Dear Parents,

Due to heavy traffic congestion on various roads under diversions, the buses are not reaching to
or returning from school on time.

Parents’ complaints are looked into to resolve transport problems but, day by day, it becomes difficult to overcome because of new routes which are blocked by the RTA.  We envisage that road construction work will continue for another 1
½ to 2 years period.

The Management is seriously thinking about the difficulty and planning to cut down certain routes by December 2008, since school will not be able to cater for the transport arrangement.

We are now approaching ‘you’, the Parents whose children are sent by bus to bring them by
your own transport.  Please consider sharing with other parents or arrange a taxi by pooling fares.

Parents in other big schools, such as ours, bring their children in their own cars.  It is cheaper,
less time consuming and your children will not have to get up so early for pick up.

We look forward to your positive response.  Let us have your suggestions for the problem your child’s school is facing.

We anticipate your help.

RAMADAN KAREEM

Dear Parents,

A very warm welcome to you at the start of the new academic year;   I hope you have enjoyed your vacation in the company of family and friends.

We will issue a School Newsletter at the end of the month; however I need to draw your  attention to a few issues today.

Safety of students: You may already be aware that there is major work going on around the premises of school with the resurfacing of roads which has made parking for parents impossible.  Until the works are completed, parents can park in the bus area.  Please be vigilant and careful for the safety of your child and those moving onto the buses.

Parents who are dropping their children by own transport may kindly drop them after 7.30 a.m. Children waiting to be collected by parents will be supervised in the Music room in Primary section until 12.30 p.m. – access from the side of the building.

We do ask that you pick up your child promptly to avoid any inconvenience to all.  Should you have a delay, you will find your child inside the main entrance of Primary Section.

Boys and Girls Sections: Students must form the habit of using Library during their free periods.  They should refrain from loitering around, boys in girls’ ground and girls in boys’ ground.  We have to maintain segregation strictly.

Book Shop: The book shop has been very busy lately, thank you for your patience.  If purchases still need to be made, we welcome parents at the beginning and end of the school day.  This will enable us to allow students to access the shop from 10 a.m. on specified days, thus avoiding unnecessary delays during class time.

Uniform: Most of our students are wearing their uniform with pride and look very smart.  Can I remind parents to check the diary for the correct uniform for each section – particularly shoes.  Senior boys should fasten their ties correctly and should wear school caps.  Primary girls should wear the school pinafore – white tights are optional.  We would discourage white leggings or trousers.

I am aware that some items are out of stock, but have been assured delivery next week.

Fees:  A reminder from the Accounts office – please ensure all outstanding fees are paid as soon as possible.
